Benjamin Franklin
http://library.advanced.org/22254/home.htm

This site "brings Franklin to life in an intriguing, often humorous way". Clearly intended for educational use, this site even includes a "Do It Yourself" science experiment. The home page is linked to pages on Biography, Inventions, Wit and Humor, Quotations, References, Genealogy, and more. Within each section, there are internal links to people, places, and terms of interest. Some may find content in the Wit and Humor and Quotation sections unfit for some classroom situations.

Benjamin Franklin: Glimpses of the Man
http://sln.fi.edu/franklin/rotten.html

Included are pages presenting Franklin as scientist, inventor, statesman, printer, philosopher, musician, and economist. Topical pages have embedded internal links to more details on specific scientific discoveries or inventions. Also included are internal and external links to a glossary, a family tree, resource materials, enrichment activities, the Benjamin Franklin National Memorial and the Franklin Institute Science Museum. "Quite a nice site for upper elementary and junior high students," as well as teachers. The lesson plans, however,  are oriented more toward science than English.

Benjamin Franklin: A Documentary History
http://www.english.udel.edu/lemay/franklin/

"Packed with quotes, records, and other great information gathered from many sources," this site in progress promises eventually to be a huge comprehensive biographical resource. Currently there is a wonderful entry for the period leading up to Franklin's birth: 1657-1705. Each of the six decades from 1730 through 1789 is represented by a summary of a single year in Franklin's life.

PAL: Benjamin Franklin
http://www.csustan.edu/english/reuben/pal/chap2/franklin.html

This page provides a bibliography and lists major themes and omissions in Franklin's work. It offers some notes on Franklin's autobiography, which it breaks into four divisions, lists some of his other literary works, and suggests five general study questions. It concludes with a serviceable student biography with good content but which is lacking in style. A handful of links to other substantial sites are given as well as a number of URLs that aren't linked.
