American Literature on Video

Check out ExxonMobil Masterpiece Theatre's American Collection website at pbs.org for additional teacher information

This online catalog will help you to:

  1. Locate currently available videos of the titles that you teach
  2. Identify a vendor and a competitive price for your purchase

Using this Catalog

For your convenience, videos are alphabetically listed by title.  If a book was filmed for release under a different title, both titles will be found in the catalog.  For example, if you're looking for a film of Theodore Dreiser's An American Tragedy, you can look up that title in the catalog and be referred to the film A Place in the Sun.

Please note that not all video vendors can sell the rights for classroom use.  A video from Blockbuster, for example, may be much less expensive than one from Films for the Humanities. However, the Films for the Humanities copy comes with full institutional rights.  With this in mind, the films that are legally cleared for classroom use are printed in red in the catalog.
